CORNWALL COMMUNITY CHOIR

Grenville-1
Neil Shepherd

Cornwall Community Choir is a network of daytime community based choirs in Cornwall. The choir started in summer of 2009 and now has choirs up and running in Penzance, Truro, Helston, Penryn (for Falmouth area) and a St Ives/Hayle group based at Carbis Bay. The Truro group covers the Truro, Newquay and St Austell areas. There are plans for further choirs in other areas of the county. Do you sing in the bath? Whilst doing the hoovering? Wandering around the golf course? If you have always wanted to sing, but never plucked up enough courage to have a go, here is your opportunity! You don't have to be able to read music and you won't be asked to sing on your own or take an audition! Perhaps you are an experienced choral singer looking to have a bit of fun and let your hair down and introduce new people to the world of choral singing? - We need experienced singers to become involved and encourage those who may be new to choral singing. Weekly practices feature a range of music from simple rounds and canons to concert pieces - in fact, everything from Bach to Beatles! This is an ideal opportunity to introduce non singers (or people who haven't done any singing for a while) to the joys of choral singing and once they've been bitten by the bug, encourage them to join already existing evening choirs! Members of the various groups come together two or three times each year, usually in Truro Cathedral. Other recent venues have included Guildhall in St Ives and a charity open air concert at Gwennap Pit which raised £1,200 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Come along to a weekly rehearsal in your area. - Click on the "Local Groups" button to locate your nearest group. We look forward to seeing you soon!
